Fort Worth Songwriters Association: Featured Member Archives

November 2010

Our featured member for this month is Maria Marable, a current resident of Maria_Marable_resized.jpgArlington who is a native of Trieste Italy. She has been a resident of our country since 1965, and a citizen since 1968. Maria, who has been an FWSA member since 2003, first fell in love with American music by listening to our popular music on the radio as a child in her home country. After her emigration to our land, her enchantment with our style of music never went away.

Maria has enjoyed a versatile artistic career. Her work as a songwriter/lyricist is matched by her contributions as: a published poet; a floral designer; a painter of miniatures and murals; a singer in her church choir for two decades; and, a creator of Nativity scenes which have been photographed and published by the Dallas Morning News. To complete this wide-range of pursuits, she writes music in both English and Italian.

She is the mother of two, a daughter Denise and son Alan, and a proud grandparent of five granddaughters, two of whom live in Mansfield and three who reside in Florida. Her first song, “Hi Robin, Hi Sparrow” was written for her children, inspired during a brief stay in Mexico. She has created a demo CD - the cover song titled “I Want to Impress You” - which covers a variety of subjects from love, to religion, to nature.

Maria has had one of her jingles played on local radio station KSCS during the “Dorsey Gang” show. Another of her jingles was a top 10 national finalist in a competition sponsored by Universal Studios.

She states that she tries to convey a “unique, fresh, light, positive” feeling in her lyrics and hopes that those who hear them feel the same. She is grateful to belong to our organization, from which she has made many new friends, and she looks forward to many future opportunities to share her love of music with others.
